Friends of the Monongahela
Mission Statement

Friends of the Monongahela was created to develop a collective and comprehensive voice for the region and to streamline access to funding resources, to engage all levels of stakeholders in the Monongahela River Watershed in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland, to educate and raise awareness and understanding of regional issues, to preserve and celebrate Monongahela River Watershed history, to gather and make information easily accessible to all stakeholders, to build partnerships and alliances between citizens, state and local government, businesses and non-profit organizations, and other concerned parties, to cultivate cooperation and collaboration among these groups, to promote comprehensive regional planning, to facilitate and encourage shared resources between stakeholders, to provide a public forum for relevant regional issues, to encourage community development and revitalization across the watershed, and to empower citizens and foster local grassroots organization in communities of the Monongahela River Watershed. FOM will focus its efforts primarily on the main stem of the Monongahela River and its small unrepresented tributaries while providing a platform for information sharing by all groups working in the watershed.
